PLEDGE

Every lesson of history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this, our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face, that their policy of accommodation is appeasement, and it gives no choice between peace and war, but only between fight or surrender. If we continue to accommodate, continue to back and retreat, eventually we have to face the final demand, the ultimatum. And what then, we will be retreating under the pressure of adversary, and someday when the time comes to deliver the final ultimatum, our surrender will be voluntary, because by that time we will have been weakened from within spiritually, morally, and economically. From our side there will be voices of “peace at any price” or “better Red than dead,” or “live on the knees than die on those feet.” And therein lies the road to war, because those voices don’t speak for us.

We know and do not believe that life is so dear and peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery. If nothing in life is worth dying for, when did this begin – just in the face of this adversary? Or should our freedom fighters live in slavery under the British? Should Arjun refused fight in Mahabharata? Should the soldiers have thrown down their guns and refused to fire the shot to the enemy? The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of enemies die in vain. Where, then, is the road to peace? Well it’s a simple answer after all.

We have the courage to say to our enemies, “There is a price we will not pay.” “There is a point beyond which they must not advance.” And this – this is the meaning of “peace through strength.” The destiny of man is not measured by material computations. When adversaries are on the move, our actions will define our character. The AMAR JAWAN JYOTI, the NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL is the testimony to the character of our countrymen, on the face of adversaries. And this is only a tiny fraction of the price our countrymen have paid to allow us to breath in this great nation. Any weapon in any arsenal is not stronger that our resolve and will.

BHARAT must win, BHARAT must thrive towards peace and prosperity under any and all circumstance, always and every time. And therefore we shall work, we shall excel, we shall lead and we shall take every lawful step necessary and ordered by the constitution, We shall endure, we shall sacrifice cheerfully and do our utmost as if the whole construct of this nation, depends upon us and our actions alone.
